I am determined to rid the corporate world of BORING presentations!

I signed up to attend a session on technology and virtual teams. I had been looking forward to the session and was hoping to get a lot out of it. As the speaker was introduced, he got up and when he got to the front of the room he powered up his laptop and had to open his presentation...while we waited! Why didn't he have it on and ready with the screen blacked out? He was starting with a demerit already in my books. I reminded myself not to be too critical. This was more of a technical conference and I should just expect good information, not dynamic presentation skills.

But as he got his first slide in focus, he warned the audience, "You can't see some of these slides from back there, so I'll fill you in as we go."

If he knew we couldn't see his slides, why did he put them in the presentation? I wanted to scream. How could anyone in this day and age --especially someone who speaks on technology--be so horrible at using it correctly?

He did turn and read most every word on his 72 slides that he had prepared and we had a photocopied packet of each and every word, just in case we wanted to endure that torture again!

Zzzzzzzz ZZZzzzzzzz ZZZZZzzzzzz
